Nach einer längeren Pause haben Makossa & Megablast nun ihr zweites Album veröffentlicht. Das Wiener Duo hat lange gebastelt und seinen unverwechselbaren Soundkosmos, der aus treibenden Afro-Beats, satten Basslines und mitreißenden Vocals besteht, weiterentwickelt. Die Arrangements sind feingliedrig und die beiden Herren kommen mit ihren Grooves bestens auf den Punkt. Kein Wunder, ist Makossa doch Musikchef bei Radio FM4 und damit ein lebendes Musikarchiv. Ergänzend gibt Megablast, den kreativen Soundbastler, der dank seines umfangreichen Gerätefundus alle Ideen ganz easy umsetzt. Das Album besteht aus einem tanzbaren Uptempo-Teil sowie einem chilligeren Part – und egal, ob schnell oder langsam: Der Sound der beiden fasziniert nach wie vor.

After a longer break, Makossa & Megablast have released their second longplayer. The Viennese duo took quite some time to work on it and to refine its distinctive sound cosmos consisting of impulsive afro-beats, full bass lines, and thrilling vocals. The arrangements are delicate and the two gentlemen manage to optimally get to the point with their grooves. Hardly surprising given the fact that Makossa is head of the music department at Radio FM4 and hence a walking music archive. Additionally. Megablast takes the role of the creative sound tinkerer who can easily put any idea into practice thanks to his vast range of instruments. The album consists of a dancy uptempo part, as well as a more relaxed part – and regardless of whether fast or slow: the sound of the two is still fascinating. (8/10)
