Der Sommer ist längst vorbei, und hier lauscht ein etwas verkühlter Musikredakteur den sonnendurchfluteten Klängen des neuen Real-Estate- Albums. »All those aimless drives / Through green aisles / Our careless lifestyle / It was not so unwise«, singen sie im überragenden »Green Aisles«. Breite Melancholie, gemischt mit Nostalgie, legt sich über das Zimmer. Das Quartett aus Brooklyn hat endlich auch die leisen Töne gemeistert. Ihr Hauptgeschäft, den flotten Strand-Indie-Pop, haben Real Estate trotzdem nicht aus den Augen verloren. Ganz im Gegenteil, »Days« klingt noch entspannter, noch luftiger und ist voller klassischer Melodien. Nicht unbedingt minimalistisch, aber reduziert auf das Wesentlichste hat die Band eine feine, leise Rock-Platte eingespielt, die an Sorglosigkeit nicht zu übertreffen ist.

Summer is long gone and here a music journalist with a bit of a cold is listening to the sunbathed sounds of the new Real Estate album. »All those aimless drives / Through green aisles / Our careless lifestyle / It was not so unwise«, they sing in the outstanding »Green Aisles«. Broad melancholia mixed with nostalgia floods the room. The quartet from Brooklyn has finally mastered the soft tones. Nevertheless, Real Estate have not lost track of their main field of business, i.e. lively indie beach pop. Quite the opposite, »Days« sounds even more relaxed, more laid-back, and is full of classic melodies. Not necessarily minimalist(ic) but reduced to the essentials the band recorded a fine, quiet rock record which could not be any more carefree. (9/10)
